I've been having trouble starting my car in the morning, it gets down to about 60 degrees over night, after I start it up for the day, it will contiune to start up quick and fine. To get it started, it takes about a soild minute of cranking..
Show I check the glow plugs, or plug in the block heater in nightly?

Sounds like the glowplugs aren't doing their job. My Mk3 turbo diesel Jetta (94) has a little light on the dash that goes out when the glowplugs have gotten hot enough to fire the fuel. So does my early 1980s midsize tractor with an Oriental diesel. My 60-year-old Do Mor with a Detroit Diesel engine does not have glowplugs, and will crank quite a while when the temperatures are cold. When it's below freezing, I plug in a block heater for that one.
Anyway, you can test a glowplug out of the engine by connecting it to 12 volts DC while grounding the body. It should get quite hot in just a few seconds. Too hot to touch, by the way.
