Never seen this happen, nor driven a car with this problem.. Started up today, and the display was scrambled and unreadable. Drove to work like that, turned off, then turned back on and all checks out. Has anyone ran into this? It only happened with the status, not the numeric disply.

Mine does the same occasionally. I have not attempted to fix it yet, but, there is a solution here.

The eight pin connector on the back of the radio was loose.
Remove radio, reseat plug and problems gone, for a while, then repeat as needed.
I never could figur out why it was flakey other than the plug seemed to unplug itself even when I was sure that it snapped in and there was plenty of extra wire. German electrical design I guess.
