Still no job, so it's time to sell the Scirocco. Just wanted to post here before I list it on eBay, in case anyone was interested.
It's an early 84, alpine white/rare blue interior. 90,xxx original miles. Always garaged. Barely seen rain, let alone snow. Mechanically perfect, save the air conditioning. Compressor is frozen, but I have a good, working replacement that I never got around to installing (not that warm up here in Maine anyway...) NOS Ronal LS 15X7.5 wheels eplus original 13" donuts.
Done in the past year:
Hella e-code sealed beam lookalike head lights (H4/H3), t-belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, cap, rotor, wires, heater valve, coolant hoses, fuel dist frequency valve, battery, throttle switch, oxygen sensor, oil pan with VW Motorsport baffle, fuel filter, fuel injectors, front right control arm and ball joint, Bils HD strut assemblies and inserts, front strut mounts, coolant overflow tank, NOS rear inner hatch seal, lots of interior bits, etc, etc, etc.
Contact me off-list if you are serious.
Tks,
Jim

That "Rocco looks so much better then when I first saw it! Nice car, taken care of by a knowledgable German car nut!
Sorry the job market is such a tough slog Jim

Random thought...would a clogged fuel filter increase MPG as you get less fuel flow therefore better
