Default similar idling problem, BUT

Hello all-

I've had almost the same problems as 1988 5KTQcd for about a year now. The only difference is all of the vaccum and breather hoses have been replaced. Last week i changed spark plugs, throttle switch, michelin man hose, and fuel pump. Now the car is harder to start and misses on a cylinder for about 30-45 seconds. Before i changed all that stuff i'd barely have to bump the starter and the car would start right up. Now it cranks for 7-8 seconds before firing poorly and nearly falls on it's face until warm. Have to keep my foot in the throttle to keep it from dying.

Thoughts? I'm guessing throttle switch adjustment but i've played with that with no luck.

Have you changed the ISV motor? Or tried to clean your current one? That thing can cause the car to start and idle very lousy. Randolph

Default One other part to swap..

is the coil(believe it or not). My uncle had a hard starting problem for over a year. Even though the coil checked ok as per the Bentley, when he swapped it with another one it started right up. I believe that the windings of the coil had a short so the full voltage was not being induced.

Anyway it's worth a try since you've gone through quite a few parts already.

Did you unplug the battery so the computer could learn the new settings. If the engine has an idle screw that will ne to be adjusted too. After fixing vacuum leaks the idle can often screw up if a mech changes the timing to fix a bad idle.

Don't bother unhooking the battery.
