Last night I noticed a burning smell emitting from the blower vents. As I turned off the blower I noticed white whisps of smoke emitting from the plenum chamber area. I opened the hood and looked for any burning wires or fire. Nothing. There was a crapload of ice/snow built up around the window/plenum chamber and I cleaned that all up. There is a hole in my plenum cover and I wonder if water leaking from the windshield could melt and get in there and cause a short or something? Anyways, I cleaned the area up and ran the fan again and there was no more burning and the fan works fine.
Anyone have a blower motor fan smoke when it starts to go bad? The motors been squeaking for about 2 months on and off. Just looking for ideas...

Did you check the fuses? Maybe something shorted out from water it smoked and then the fuse went. Are you sure it wasent just water vapor coming in? That cover is one of the cheap things on the cars I can almost swear its made out of paper hat material. HAHA

but that wouldn't have made the smoke/smell come in from the vents. I did check though and all the fuses are fine/dry.
Could be water vapor but then why would I have that burning smell?
Yeah that cover is a piece of crap. I want to upgrade to the heavier duty cover seen on the later type 44's...
I ran the blower today for a couple of hours and haven't reproduced the burning so I'll have to wait and see what happens next.
