So I cracked my head open the other night on my new Avant tailgate. Anyone else want to share a

one day when I was working on my car before I replaced the hood struts...
seems like the beginning to all of these stories...
anyways, I had the hood propped up with a pole because the hood struts were COMPLETELY shot. I was leaning over the engine and accidentally knocked my pole out of the way. The hood came crashing down. The latch (think pointing thing) hit me square in the back giving me a charlie horse right in the middle of the back...OUCH!
I still think steve wins, though.

I've had the hood drop more than once on my back - one time got the hood pin (one on each side) just
below my neck... the son of a bitch drew blood and left a nasty black and blue.
Audis have attitudes, if you hit the wrong spot... they'll let you know.

My hood dropped on my head the other day...
something sharp right into my scalp. DAMN!! No blood, but a very sore spot on my head. J/Y struts were in 10 minutes later, somewhat better now. I usually clamp a small vise-grips on the strut while working under the hood, not this time though. The problem is that I was changing a DS side marker bulb at the time and when it slammed I jumped and the bulb fell into the reflector housing. Any way to get these out without removing the entire headlight?? It looks like there are 2 bulb down in there, so it must have happened to someone else before. These Audi gods you speak of must have no indifference.

Had a chunk of my ear taken the other night.....
although it was a small chunk, it hurts all the same. It is getting cooler here and forgot the hood struts do not hold as well in colder weather, so I was checking out the leaking temp sensor on the '91 100 and the hood caught me by surprise!

Same thing here...pointy part of latch right on my head.
No blood or cracked cranium though. Damn bump on the head and a lot of cursing.
I fabbed a hood strut 'helper' rod to wedge under the strut tube once the hood is fully open. No more slamming hoods.
I did once get trapped with the rear differential housing on my chest.
I was swapping out the final drive, thinking it was the cause of a grinding noise. I managed the lift and heave the old one out and placed it on my chest while lying on a creeper.
I was exhausted. When I tried to roll back under the car with the replacement diff, I ran out of steam wrestling the housing into place. It fell back on my chest and there I lied under the car pinned with a final drive on top of me.
My neighbor rolled me out and he managed to lift it up there.
He earned a case of Sam Adams.
