Someone explain the proportioning valve on the type44 car to me.

I'm having problems with my front brakes locking up. It's actually scary on dry pavement, so imagine it in the snow.
Now, I put those big ole A8 brakes on it, so that may have a little to do with why they're locking up, but I'd like to send some more power to the rears. How do I fool the stock proportioning valve into sending more juice to the rear?
Thanks,
Chris

Ok, you can remove stock proportioning valve and bypass it with stock female/female tube connectors. If you will bypass you will immediately notice overall better brakes. This mod only for cars with working ABS and rear disk brakes.
But also some people saying that you should be carefull with braking in long turns on slippery surface.
Thats it.

I was under the impression that all that was needed was to remove the spring. Oh, but I guess you'd need to put it in it's fully up position though, right? How did you clamp it? What materials were used?
Thanks,
Chris

which pushes the valve down. I removed my spring and clamped the valve down.
I know it doesnt make sense that the trap arm would pull down as it moves up.....but look where the spring is attatched and you'll see how it works.

I get more brake fluid out of the rear calipers when the proportioning lever is in the up position and almost none in the down position.

And promptly blew the driver's side rear brake line. Anyone know where can get one ASAP?
It seemed to be braking much better after the bleeding and then the pedal sank to the floor on a heavy 80-0 run. Oh well, such is the love-hate affair with this car.
Sometime, I think we're all a bunch of masochistic idiots. But everyone once in a while, the car runs awesome, and you forget all about the crap.
