Default spark plug change interval?

I don't have a manual handy,

what is the recommended change interval for the f5dpor spark plugs?

At $15-17 each I don't want to change them before they are due. Current set have about 100k miles on them.

Default Try and cross to NGKs of the same temp range! $15 bucks a pop! No way!

The NGKs I use... the guy looked at me sideways. Those are lawnmower plugs he said. LOL. I said well that's fine. I guess I've got 5 lawnmowers under the hood! The plugs work great. Way better than the standard Bosch. The best part is they cost $2 each!

HHHMmm, your sig says MC head? 10V and 20V use much different plugs, I'm guessing your NGK doesn't quite cross.

Default Good luck with that.

The 20vt is a finicky mistress. Spark plugs are not the place to save money. Plenty of AAN guys have been this route and nothing holds up the way the correct plugs do.

Default At 100k, I think it is save to say that is OK to change the plugs.

I doubt you're leaving much life on the table.

Default already got the f5dpor plugs

I saw them in my drawer the other day and realized I've never changed my plugs.

Just for the record, the bentley says to replace the plugs at 30k intervals so I'm waaaaay over due at 100k miles. The fact that they've lasted this long must indicate something, but I'm not sure exactly what (besides, I'm lazy and cheap)

Default At $20 a pop you can but 10 sets of el cheapos...

As a troubleshooting tool they might work out alright. Try one or two ranges colder (an 8 or 9 series). Interestingly enough the WR7 Bosh plugs I replaced with 7 series NGKs are in the same temp range as the 5 series F5dpor plugs. Appropriate since I am running in the same boost zone. I've had no trouble with these plugs at all.

It's your money. Worth a try isn't it?

Default Worth a try, yes.

Unless the electrode gets too hot and breaks off or something like that. If I was worried about saving a few dollars on maintenance items, I'd own a V6...or a Toyota.
