I totally agree....couldn't have expressed it better myself, Russ!
After wrenching American, Japanese, German, Korean cars, I feel the same way regarding German design.
As frustrating to fix, I still admire them as I curse them.
Now, I wonder if I'd still feel this way about them German cars if I experience Italian cars?

Ok... added some stubby wrenches and some racheting swivel-head wrenches to the "Jolly Red Giant"
I call the tool box that because it keeps eating money like Friar Tuck went through Turkey legs... and I like the Green giant reference... Ho ho ho... And that ain't Satan Claus but it is dressed in red!
