Default steady water leak

Hey All, I've got a steady water leak coming from where the AC Compressor meets the engine block area.("89" turbo Quattro 200 5 cyl)(see pics below)
Is there a freeze plug there? is it the radiator?
I could use some diagrams and advice.
Thanx

Default I'd say its the rubber thermostat seal. The flange comes off with two 10mm bolts. Easy fix.

Good time to change the thermostat too.

The only time I've had water leaks there is when the water pump went/was about to go.

You seem to have a leak a bit farther back than the front of the engine. If you had drips off the timing belt cover or the front bolts on the A/C mounting, the waterpump seal or shaft would be the most likely.

But since your leak looks to be more "around the corner" from the front, I'd guess either the thermostat housing seal or the small hose that connects the thermostat housing to the piece of pipe that runs along the engine and collects coolant from the heater core (#37 below).

Thanx for the replies and specifically for the diagram Kneale.
Well I bought a felpro thermostat "O" ring and a thermostat from Kragens, Cleaned mating surfaces and installed and I'm still leaking. This was late last nite, so I'm gonna take another look and change the coolant hose #37 on diagram.
Any suggestions on where to buy hose #37, any parts store?
Thanx !

well, I'm gonna have the radiator tested, it looks beat up. If anyone still tests radiators anymore !Ha !
Man ! that dust shield under the radiator is a stupid design. It took me longer to take the shield off than the radiator !!! :P
I do not hear any bearing noise from the water pump area, But we'll see.

Default update: Radiator fails test

Alright, had radiator tested and it is no good.
Any suggestions on where to buy a radiator for a reasonably inexpensive price?
Thanx
