symptoms / testing of fuel pump, FPR, injectors?
I'm having a cold start / warm start issue where the car usually requires a good deal of cranking to get it going. Once going, idle seems pretty smooth, driving seems smooth, though on hard acceleration I'm seeing some stutters - at first I thought it was boost related as it was only happening when I would hit 22 PSI or so, but now it seems to be getting worse and worse and is happening even when no hard boosting is in session. I suppose maybe I could have blown something up with the higher boost I've been running lately...
Also, interesting to note, if I am idling and give the car just a tiny bit of gas (to get it to maybe 1.5-1.8 k RPMs, the tach will bounce, the vac reading will bounce and obviously the motor will change revs.
I suppose it could be something to do with a vac leak again, but I thought I had those pretty well taken care of.
Also, my boost threshold is quite higher than it should be. Whereas the gt2871 should be hitting boost around 2700 RPMS, I get up to 10 PSI really fast and then don't see full boost until 5000 RPM like clockwork.
What are the symptoms of a failing FPR, fuel pump and injectors? Any info would be most helpful - I do have a whiny fuel pump that may be original, though I don't know if its part of the problem.
Thanks
Andrew
