Tantrum Tranquilized!!!

After realizing that the ramps are a poor substitute for the hoist...and shuffling the cars again to put Tantrum up in the sky, I tackled the bent "positioning rod" issue last night. The front (bent) section of rod came out quite easily with the underside of the car at 5 feet above the floor, allowing quick test-fitting for additional tweaking. The rod was bent in at least 2 places, at the adjustment point and at the mid-section bend:

At the first test fit I couldn't get the linkage to move towards the back of the car. I was reaching for a pry bar when I thought about how I got us here in the first place.....so I went and RTFM (see.....I am learning from my mistakes....and hopefully everybody reading this will be smarter than me and learn from my mistakes). I took a look in behind the shifter assembly in the car and, lo and behold, the guide pin at the back of the joint had fallen out of the hole and was pushing against the shifter assembly bracket. Once that was fixed things went very well - gearshift position returned to normal and I even replaced the linkage bolt with a stainless one (not that I plan to EVER remove it again).
Next I bled the clutch (with Pam assisting....after she had gone to bed ...oops!), got some nasty looking brake fluid which was suprising since Frank and I just recently changed the entire clutch hydraulic system. Clutch releases properly now and is super smooth!
Drove Tantrum out and re-shuffled the fleet....lights off in the garage around 2am. Driving to work this morning there was considerable howl from the prop shaft assembly for the first few km - not suprising considering that the U-Joint and CV's had been flexed outside their normal travel during the work. No appreciable noise from the transmission or rear diff (changed both to Redline Synth - GL4 Transmission and GL5 Rear Diff). Tantrum and I have patched things up and called a truce. What bliss.
Cheers!

I wouldn't have said that where Tantrum couuld have heard you. You *are* brave!
The temptation fro "Tantrum" to mess with you could be just a bit too high. I'm assuming now that Tantrum is behaving, no booger on the trunklid? :-)
