Somthing in my ac compressor area was smoking the other day. smelled like rubber with white smoke.
looking underneath, all the belts look good but the part where the belt attaches to the compressor looks like it's a bit loose. is there a clutch in this area?
oh yeah, no cooling is happening either.

ugh, no money in budget for the 200 at this time. I'm spending it all on my damn motorcycle.
Priorities change so we will see what happens.
been toying with the idea of selling my BIRA sys2/UFO setup. just too lazy at the moment and not sure where I want to go with the 200.
Dreams of big turbos have evaporated and I have another car to drive so I may just keep her for cold weather.
hit 200k and she left me stranded with a corroded fusible link that looked like it was still good.... now this.

Or... Compressor is seized, causing the clutch/belt to be slipping! :-(
With the motor running, turn on the air, and see if the clutch (center front part of AC compressor pulley) is turning.
If not, shut off motor, and try turning the front center part by hand. If it won't turn at all, probably seized compressor.

while I agree with Frank, my experience with the belt slipping like that generally involves a very high pitch squeaking....
but yea, the first thing you should try is what Frank said and turn the front part of the compressor, it should have some resistance intermittently, but should be able to be turned, and not grind, etc...
