Can't convince you otherwise, they are unreliable, impractical, and expensive... Love or sell =)

Default Tell me about it, I just spent $98 for a 12" clutch slave hose, that's ten 12 packs of Bud Ice

and I didn't really even need one, just preventative maintainance.

Default Sorry, but I can't muster the faith to convince you.

To have a 5k/100/200 as your one and only primary vehicle is asking for trouble and hair pulling aggrivation. The fact is the cars have strong points and inexcuseable weaknesses. Combine that with age, and it's repair list seems endless.
It seems that Audi allowed the A-list engineers to work on the body, engine, and drivetrain. Yet let loose their B-list engineers to mop up the rest of the car. IMHO, the suspension, electricals, HVAC, and brakes are all substandard in performance, engineering, workmanship and quality.
If you are enamored with the car, then keep it. If you are getting sick of the unreliable nature of it, then segregate it to being the 2nd car and get a Honda or Toyota to fall back on. Of course, this doesn't solve being stranded by your Audi, but at least you can get around while it's disabled.

So, $98 for the car, $98 for the mechanic. Sounds about right.

Default Every car breaks, all the time, period.

So, if you don't love it, then sell. If you do, it will haunt you until you get another. I have never been stranded by either of my 44s, nor by the two Coupe GTs I owned also. My ex drove an Isuzu Rodeo which cost her $390/mo and it had a $1000 temper tantrum every six weeks or so. That's actually new A8 or BMW M5 money! And she hated it. I prefer to sort the foibles of my 5ktq + 240Z combo and pay $75/mo for insurance alone as both are paid off, but generally, I feel that any car costs an arm and a leg to run, I don't care what it is. New Civic is very reliable but what about the cost of insurance since it will likely be stolen five times before your payments run out???
