Default Today's encouragement...

Okay, whenever my car has me running around in circles trying to figure out some phantom noise/smell/light/studder/etc. it always seems someone starts a thread about how great these cars really are. Without fail, this sentiment spreads to me and I fall in love all over again. I figure its my turn to send out some audi love.

After retrieving my car this morning (I was in no state to drive home last night) I pull up to a stop light next to a brand new GTO. I'm not one to rev my engine and cause a ruckus, but when the light turns green I make sure to always stay ahead of said GTO. He gets it and nails the gas at about 40, but was on the cell phone so he couldn't downshift. I win.

Next stop light: He pulls up, this time with no cell phone. He looks over, clearly a little confused that he got beat by an old wagon, and I smile. At the green light I pull on him hard to the top of 2nd gear, then let up (for legal purposes).

This happens again at a third light. I just won best of five. He turns at the next street and gives me a big wave and a thumbs up.

I know that in ideal conditions the GTO would have skated around the audi, but this is winter time in Seattle, and the roads are perpetually damp. I could constantly hear his tires clawing for a foothold, so its not at all a fair fight, but hey, if my 16 year old euro-barge-luxo-wagon with a 2.2L engine can pull on a brand new V8 coupe in any weather, I'm still very impressed, and it seems the meathead in the GTO was too. Just kidding about the meathead thing. At the very least, I made him hang up his cell phone and drive.

So that's just my 2 cents. I hate fearing the impending death of my fuel pump, I hate the feeling of being stranded, and I hate spending days trying to figure out why my check engine light is on, but when that turbo kicks in, its all worth it.

It helps that I washed the car too...here's some pics to prove to the PO that she's still in good hands ;-)

Happy driving.

Default Thanks for the New Year smile...

And thanks for not drinking and driving. Prooving once again that Audi drivers are competent and conciencious drivers!

And by the way... he is a meathead for not realizing he was bound to be whooped by QUATTRO! :-)

Default Good stuff!

"I hate fearing the impending death of my fuel pump, I hate the feeling of being stranded, and I hate spending days trying to figure out why my check engine light is on, but when that turbo kicks in, its all worth it."

I drove about 400 miles this weekend and left the Audi at home. Taking turns driving the 4 cylinder 02 Altima just solidified my thoughs on my Audi... it is one hell of a car!

Happy New Year everyone!

"when that ______ does _______ , it makes it all worth it"

Yeah, that statement might be a little cliche, but you all know what I'm getting at!

Default Well, not downtown, but yeah.

Just moved back here on the 30th into a place in wedgewood (just north of the U district)... maybe 6 miles northeast of downtown.

Hopefully traffic wasn't too bad for you. The problem with Seattle traffic is that its so unpredictable. You can have the freeway to yourself during rush hour, but everything will be jammed up at some obscure time of day. Its frustrating and really hard to plan for.

Anyway, sorry to have missed you...let me know if you're ever back in the area.

Default audi smiles

yup bought a 2006 Jetta... great car but everytime i drive my 16 year old Audi 200q on my 150km commute it puts a smile on my face (wish i could say the same about the jetta). i will pull out to pass 3 cars and truck all at once... the turbo kicks in and the smile starts. only thing that makes it better is snow and ice.

i gave up waiting for the fuel pump to go, it is still original, ... it just keeps on ticking so i just keep on changing the filter every 50,000kms.

Default Traffic WAS brutal : - (

I'd made the post listing some cities I'd hit at just after 4pm and still hadn't hit Puyallup area (by that point the longest stop had only being for 1 hr lunch). I left Vancouver, BC @ approx 8:30pm & didn't get home till almost 3 am.
But you can see from the different roads I was taking my route was all over the place (& that was w/ maximizing stop/location efficiency).

But yeah, next time I'm through I'll try to meet up w/ folks. Do you have MSN? If so email the info to me so I can add you.
