Default Transaxle metal shavings in drain plug, how bad of a sign is this?

Hey guys I was draining out my transaxle today to put in the new stuff and noticed a bit of metal shavings in ther end and a few attached to the magnet on th eend of the plug. I was wondering what would be considered normal and what should I do to maybe clean them all out. My neighbor recommened pooring some desel in the tranny and swashing it about a bit then draining it. I voted to check up first and make sure that wouldnt be a terrable idea or not. R these shaving somehting I have to worry about?
