Default transmission swap

Has anyone on here ever swapped out an auto fwd trans on a 5000s for a manual? I can't seem to find any info on it. Will any other audi/vw manual trans's fit this car?

Default Best conversion you can do!!

Converted an '86 5KSW auto to 5spd. Super reliable, fun to drive!! Go for it!!

I used an '87 5KSQ as a donor. I almost even used the tranny (would require exhaust work) but lucked out and found a "5N" 2wd trans at the last moment. The donor car was good cause you need valve cover, acc. cable, pedal assembly, hydraulics, int. pcs, axles, shifter and most important all the grommets to keep it factory! Worth the work!!

I've looked all over for one. They are pretty much all gone i think. the local German junk yard here crushed a 5000s 2 years ago because there is no market for parts anymore.

I hear 'ya, it is getting hard to acquire parts for these generation of Audi's. I keep mine going and keep in touch with where spares are available! Love the car but one day.....

i love this car and hate it at the same time. drives like a dream. i slammed a deer, i mean SLAMMED a deer and it did minimal damage. just wish it was a little more reliable and there were more parts available. most of them being autos sent most of them to the grave way too early. my friend worked on them when new and said most of the time the diff blew up.

Look on rockauto.com, they tend to have a lot of aftermarket parts. In the US some people actually realized cash for clunkers was retarded and held onto their cars, so yes there is a market for parts. I mean i know a guy who owns 3 200q's and a 5000. trust me there is a market.

I have had many friends over the years nail things, fall asleep driving and bounce around in fields and ditches, hit everything including other cars and always walk away. There is a reason why Audi was the last brand to have airbags in all models. Very safe cars such as the T44's. ......just finding parts now!!!.....
