Tuning limit 2.2 turbo engines
Hi Guys,
I know 2 persons who modified their engines by increasing turbo pressure on their Audi 200 10v engines.
The one did it mechanically with an adjustable wastegate and applied a resistor mod to fool the ECU. He drove the car extremely hard and bent the connecting rods after 3 months.
The other got a chip from MTM to go from 220 HP to 300 HP and blowed it headgasket after +/-15 WOT tests.
How moch extra power can you actually get from an MC-2 engine with 163 HP stock without doing one bit to the hardware of the engine. The little Audi 200 turbo quattro's that drive in Belgium and that we know ALL suffered from engine damage due to tuning. I'm losing a bit confidence in the tuning but is this correct or not?

Sounds like those two did something dumb...
There are people running EFI and CIS equipped MC-1 and MC-2 motors with 250 to 300+hp and no problems.
Do a search, ToxCheap, Shortyq, JavadShadzi, 1SlowAudi, etc all have high boost 10vt's.

Im running about 230hp with a chip and no problems here. That MTM chip sounds like it was on a 20v. Maybe the headgasket was defective or too old?
