Default V8 Quattro Transmission

How does it work? There's no set ratio for the gears? Is it continuously adjustable or different shift maps or what?

I'm guessing you're looking for automatic info?

well, how does it work?

There are no gear ratios listed and from what I've read, it's programming can be reset by disconnecting the battery for awhile. I know how the 3 modes work.

What are the ratios? Are they adjustable by the transmission computer?

Default Answers for you...

It's just they are already programmed into the box for specific shift points.

As for the ratios I am not sure that they are different for other 4HP24(a)'s but a standatd ZF 4HP24 trans has the following:

Automatic four-speed transmission with mode select, lock-up, electronic control, shift lever on floor,
2.48:1 first gear ratio,
1.48:1 second gear ratio,
1:1 third gear ratio,
0.73:1 fourth gear ratio,
2.09:1 reverse gear ratio,
low/high gear ranges and 3.27:1 low/high gear ratio ZF 4HP24

thanks a bunch. AW's model guide didn't list gear ratios so I didn't know if they were adjustable (is that even possible beyond a CVT?) or what.

As far as shift points go, are there just a set for Sport and a set for Economy, or does the car learn and adapt to driving styles?

Default That one is a question to the Audi Gods.

As far as "I" know, it's pre-set for those specific points., you have to get into the later cars for get a learning setup. (98 newer I believe)
