Hi,
My V8 was sqeaking all the time it was running (only in warm weather, in cold weather it would squeak and then stop and the car got warmer). I would look under the bonnet and try to find the problem. I placed it down to the rollers on the serp belt. I ordered the belt and two rollers from www.vagparts.com.
They came and I gave it a go. All the front hoses off, electric fan off (heavy thing!), and belt off. The old belt was tacky and cracking - hence the noise.
With Matt's help, I located the fancy hydraulic tensioner wheel adjuster behind the viscious fan and managed to place the new belt on it. Really easy and a good bit of engineering by Audi.
Replaced the hoses/fan/coollant and the engine is now quiet.
Just need to replace a headlamp glass (cracked), heater matrix (Thanks Matt!), oil pressure gauge, and front brake UFO discs - so far!
Regards

Nobody in Edmonton knows V8's and I am finding that out the hard way. I am learning these cars day by day because I am getting no help from the dealership. Soon, before I go mental, I hope to be the authority on these cars.
