In connection with original Bosch 110A alternator on my V8Q is f***d ....




.... at the moment I have installed (temporary) 90A Vaico alternator (which is the same size like Bosch 90A alternator) ....




but I'm thinking about upgrade into 150A alternator from Audi A8/S8 till year 2003



My question is: does anybody has experience with this, because I'm not sure that 150A alternator fill fits because it's 5mm wider or shaft longer ...

Okay so you can already see some slight differerences between the two.

Stock has a "external fan", the A8' is an "internal fan" - which would explain the additional depth - also due to the expanded output.

Whats "missing" from there is the dimension from the lower mounting point to the end of the shaft, that is what you would need to know to make sure it will line up pully wise. Then you would need to include some spacer for the original pully (to make up for the loss of the external fan).

But I don't see why it wouldn't work. Keep us posted on if you are able to do this, as I'd like to put a bigger alternator in my Pearl V8 to help with the stereo..

Of course I will post all info. I hope that in next 2-4 weeks I will manage to do this upgrade, because with my car stereo original 110A alternator is not good enough as well .

I think thew v6 120 amp alt. can be made to fit too.

Probably yes, it will fit, because mine temporary 90A is from V6 as well. But if do upgrade, why do not try maximum :-)

150A alternator in place ! Had to use a grinder to take of few milimeters ..

No at all, even pulley is the same size.

so in short, the 150A alternator from the A8/S8 will work fine and all you have to do is trim a bit off the bracket?
