Default What does this relay do?

I guess I could unplug it and see what doesn't work... but that doesn't seem safe.

Default Re: What does this relay do?

well mr goodbytes ive had lots of fun in my time figuring out what relays do what. (that was very sarcastic) i belive that 213 relay does multipul things i know for a fact that theres wires going from the mulitfuntion switch for your transmission going to that relay and when i wasn't getting power to that switch i ended up ripping out my center consol trying to figure out why my car was stuck in sports mode, (eg going down the road at 50mph at 3000RPMS) i ended up tracing those wires to that relay. when i replaced it everything worked fine again.
As for the fan relay that ron was talking about (im assuming hes refering to the auxilary fan) ill have to look in my repair manual for sure but i know i wired up my auxilary fan to a switch on the center consol because in arizona the car doesn't appreciate 115F+ outside and the wire actually went to that 214 relay in the bottom right side of the fuse panal. (erm that took alot of fuses to find)

i belive you ron! i just know that when i had my consol apart trying to figure out why my car was stuck in sports mode, (i even tried another switch, and a new tranny computer) and nothing worked till i changed out that relay. there were wires going from the programable switch to that relay! and when i changed out the relay it fixed the problem! check out the colors on the wires on your switch and the wires going to that relay Mr.goodbytes thats a 214 relay right? now i dont know how this image is going to come up but i highlighted YB for yellow blue which goes from the switch to that relay, IN MY CAR at lest i dont know about your guys. i suppose its entirely possible someone rerouted that wire to that relay for me just like they thought itd be a good idea to put a right side distributor into my left engine bank. but when i tested the wires to that programable switch that yellow blue wasn't getting a current. i changed out the 214 relay it got current no more stuck in sports mode and the switch worked again.

Default Stuck in sport mode, so what's??????

You have lost a ground to the SEM switch if it is stuck in sport mode. But isn't this why you brought the car to begin with???

ron and i have already verified someone had been working on my car before i bought it that shouldn't have as there was a passenger distributor in the drivers side of the engine and after looking at that picture yes my car is diffrent. as for the ground it wasn't a grounding problem as i tested the ground. it was the yellow blue wire that was bad and i traced it to the relay in the picture rigged up by god knows who. and that fixed the problem. granted i enjoy the top end of this car but when im trying to do 45mph i dont need to be at 3k rpms making my engine push harder than it needs to.
