One of my cars has fabric inserts in the seats. (The side parts are leather).
The leather parts are black, and the fabric is also black with gray pinstripes. I would like to dye fabric part solid black. Even if the pinstripes don't turn as dark as the rest of the fabric it would be better.
Any suggestion what products would work for this?
BTDT?
TIA,
Zsolt

SEM Products makes an extensive line or dye for cloth, vinyl and leather upholstery. It comes in spray cans and is actually a lacquer. Most auto leather (except Rolls Royce) is colored with lacquer. Ever notice that leather shoes, when scraped, show another color? The expensive alternative is vat dying, this colors the leather right through.
SEM Products is an excellent conpany with a band of roving instructors that travel around to keep their retaillers up to date. I am not sure it has reached the "Autozone" level, but professional body shop supply houses will carry it. SEM Prodocts also has a web site.
I have used it a number of times on fabric, vinyl and leather. It carries the "Faust Seal of Approval" (with Oak Leaf Cluster). Proper cleaning before application is crucial to a long lasting job.

There is a powder dye out there you can use to dye permanently. Issue is, you are not going to be able to dye it directly to the fabric on the seat. You will need to remove the cover, soak it in the dye, dry and put it back on. Even the brush ons will saturate through the sea cushion itself and I do not know what the outcome will be.

I was also told that I may not be able to do it considering that it's a synthetic fiber and the colour is in the fabric itself.
Well, we'll see. I keep looking.
