I went to SEARS, Pepboy, WalMart and Home Depot. None of them carries such thing! Maybe I will just take the radiator out and change the thermo switch. Or maybe I should try a 1-1/8" socket.

To change the thermoswitch that resides in the radiator, you'll need a 29 mm (not 30 mm) deep socket. Pep Boys carries them in a 1/2" drive impact version. Each is bubble packed individually and sells for about $10.00. Ask at the counter if the local store doesn't have one in stock -- they can get one overnight usually. It'll be flat black (not chrome plated) and pretty good quality. They sell it as an axle nut socket, alongside a variety of similar metric deep impact sockets.

If you feel flush, flag down a Snap-On truck and buy one from the driver/salesman. Guaranteed that it'll cost you closer to $25.

BTDT. Just used my 29 mm deep socket (that I bought from Pep Boys) today for just that purpose, in fact.
