Where is engine number stamped on the block?

Default Where is engine number stamped on the block?
As part of the inspection process of changing my car title from "salvage" to "rebuilt" title, the inspecting police officer will need to write down the engine number on the Affidavit of Restoration form. Can anyone point me in the right direction to locate the number. Thanks.

Just below the cylinder head on the drivers side near the dipstick..
