Default did it blow or just leak

they shouldn't blow , if they do there is a bigger problem (i know from experience you dont wanna know what i went through) if they just slowly leak the new o rings should solve the problem

Geyser! It's high pressure, shredded the O-rings.

Default uh oh , you gotta problemo

i had that problem , i had to replace the bomb and the damper line from pump to bomb there was a clog somewhere causing the fluid to back up into the pummp and then..... cablooey. Could this be an effect of using ATF? I dont know but your problem is very similar to mine , which seal is it blowing?

Default Nooooo! I think it's just an O-ring problem.

It's the plug at the top under the line going down to the bomb, the one farthest forward. There may be a scratch or defect in the sealing surface. Or maybe the first O-ring was a fluke, and the ones I've been replacing it with have been too cheap. Many rubbers aren't compatible with hydraulic fluids, it's a good possibility these weren't. A plug like this with an O-ring should hold more pressure than a pump like this can put out. And my bomb has been dead for at least 100k, so it's probably not the cause. I've got a bag of Viton O-rings now, hopefully I'll need just one.

I hope for your sake its just an o ring problem but it is almost identical to my past issue. The pump most definitly can put out enough pressure to blow that seal I saw it with my own two eyes 4 times in a row, that pump puts out 2600 psi. that is the same exact seal that went in my car, my bomb wasnt dead it was plugged up with some kinda **** after i flushed the system with 11s. I REALLY HOPE THE O-RING DOES THE TRICK FOR YOU. GOOD LUCK i am curious to see how it turns out let us know.

Default How long did you go with replacing the O-ring? I've had four in about four years.

The bomb is both a pressure reservoir and pressure damper, absorbing shocks in the system. Surges could be the problem, maybe by upgrading this seal I'll just blow the next weakest seal. I'll certainly let you know. My bomb has been out forever, I assume it's been completely full of stagnant fluid. I've thought about plumbing another hydraulic accumulator in elsewhere, I design and build industrial machinery for my side job, fly for A^A to feed the car habit. Maybe Jim Bush has a bomb I can try to rebuild, a new hobby for me!
