Had the tranny issue awhile back. link-> https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/374678.phtml
So I finally dealt the tranny issue this week and here's what transpired if you care..
As per advice given here, I was hoping it was just the master &/or slave cylinder.
So I called the shop early this week and described the problem: ie; "SUDDENLY without warning, tranny wont go in/out of any gear after stopping at red light. The clutch pedal just drops to the floor without normal resistance when depressed"
He said that he'll check it out. He called back saying he needed to open the transmission. I said WAIT,...HOLD ON..,and told him that I was doing some research and asking car-guys around and from what I have gathered, the problem is most likely master or slave cylinder. He said OK I'll replace it..just like that. Hmmm. (At this point I began to feel a knot in my stomach. You all know what/how THAT feels right? It's human nature I guess. I wasnt keen on how he non-chalantly agreed with my 'suggestion'. So we hung up and he goes busy with the slave cylinder. I couldnt leave work or physically go to the shop(long story) to personally check it out. All I could do at that time was hoped for the best and honesty from him. Anyways, I manned up and just braced myself so to speak until all is said and done. )
Hours later, He called me and said the new slave is in. There's pedal pressure now BUT the tranny still wont go into and out of any gear. He needed to open the transmission. I said OK.
1 and 1/2 days later, (yesterday), I got my car back and my pocket is $2000 dollars lighter.. for parts & labor. slave, clutch, tranny parts..
It shifts smoothly now. However, I was expecting a more stiffer clutch when I press it. It has light pedal feel but not very light and the tranny goes in smoothly. I thought that for new clutches, one's supposed to feel a little more resistance than the old working clutch? Am I wrong on this assumption?

Get the broken parts he took out...
Also, your clutch effort should be less with a whole new setup. If you are worried, re-bleed the master and slave cylinders.

Yes it's a little less or close to same effort than before the problem. I thought with a new clutch it should be stiffer than before the problem?
Ugh, I forgot to ask for the old parts.

Sounds like they replaced the guide tube (sleeve), slave cylinder, clutch fork (lever, was it broken?), release bearing, disc and PP, input shaft seal.
Sounds like they thought the tube and fork were borked, get them back and see for yourself...Neither of those parts are expensive or hard to change at all when the clutch is out. Maybe 5min for the tube (two bolts + o-ring) and 5-10 for the fork? Plus, I've only heard of a small handful of Audis with broken clutch forks or worn guide tubes.
