Default 1.5W instrument cluster bulbs.

I randomly came across this auction for 1.5W Mercedes instrument cluster bulbs. I have the 2W bulbs with red bulb covers in my 20v 90 and love the color of the cluster. However, some have reported that the 2W's can cause hot spots to the overlays and make the cluster look a little goofy. You can use the dimmer to tame them down a bit but this also dims the rest of the interior lighting. These 1.5W's may be a good compromise for people who want a brighter cluster but don't want to worry about "hot spots". Even though the bulbs are for Mercedes they should fit in our car's just fine.

1.5W bulbs

Default Stupid question but...

My clock bulb just went out last week.. do I have to look for a bulb with the screw base or does the small bulb come out of the screw? Common sense would say the bulb can be swapped out of the base and replaced.. but.. confirmation before I take out the speedo?

Default There are two shapes of 2W bulbs. The tall/large bright green bulbs and the small light (edit)

green ones like the ones pictured. I bet you just have the latter. I think I saw these 1.5W's in the 100 cluster for the board computer. My 90 doesn't use these anywhere though.

You gotta get the whole thing. The small bulb is soldered in.

Default Well I have some funky tall based toshiba (I think) dark green based bulbs...

...the light green Osrams on the Audi clusters are 2.0W bulbs.

They're a 1.1W or 1.2W twist in bulb like those behind the gauges...

Default You don't understand. We're both saying the same thing. The bulb is soldered into the socket and not

possible to replace with just another bulb. Therefore you must buy another "twist in bulb" like the ones in the link I posted. They are exactly the same except 1.1W or 1.2W as SCarGo said.
