Hey guys,I've got a '89 90q20v and have the opportunity to pick up a 10v turbo
out of a '84 200 (in fact the whole car),the guy is almost giving it away and I'm trying to determine if it's worth dropping it into my 90 as far as increasing performance, ideally I want a 20v turbo (3B),but here in Australia they are rarer than my 20v which is one of only several..What do you guys think, can you get 200 kw or more out of the 10v turbo (without major reworking),the 20v I have is good for 125 kw and if I'm gonna "do this" it's gotta be worth at least a 75 kw increase to make it worth while and I haven't found any specs on the 10v turbo...thanks for infos in advance.

I think those years only had around 150-160hp (less than 125kW) However, if you are willing to put some work into it, people have gotten over 400hp out of the 10vt with modified turbos, exhausts, fuel delivery, etc . . . it would be quite a project, but probably cheaper than a 20v and the possibility for as much power if you were up to it. Also try the 5000 forum . . . they'd probably know more about those engines than any of us!
Anyway, if its in good shape and in a running car, it'd be worth taking anyway in my opinion! You could modify it and work on it in the '84, and if you were satisfied with the power, then drop it in your 90 . . . otherwise just sell it again

as far as putting a 10vt into the B3, talk to rick houck (rhouck@neo.rr.com). he has a CQ with a MC in it. the old KH 10v turbo is only good for 100kW, but can be brought up to MC spec (i forget what is involved). ask the 5000t/200 forum if they know (i saw a list of parts once, but don't remember specifics, but didnt seem too bad). like i said, get some more info on the KH to MC...btw, the MC is good for over 200hp, and already makes more torque than the 7A in stock trim, and has a MUCH better torque curve...

Rick Houck's track CQ

He has done similar engine conversions, like a Chevy LT1 350 into a '89? 5000/100 body Audi. The 20v is do'able but very costly, and Air would be even more $$$.
