after researching on these wonderful forums, I finally went out to take a look at that damn vacumn pump. I used to get this horrible knocking noise from under my valve cover area and it was embarassing. I read about the metal shaft that drives the dumb vacumn pump, so i took off 2 nuts, pulled off the vacumn pump, pulled out the metal shaft, and put it back together. Took all of 10 mins. And boy the car sounds great now! i think it performs better too....however it just might be my imagination.

I couldn't figure out what it was... then after some research, I found that.
2 bolts, 10 minutes later, it's quiet.
It started making noise, and I noticed the brake pedal was funky sometimes, then it all made sense.
It's nice to have a quiet car again.
(well relatively quiet at least)
