Hi,
I just bought a 1990 90 20v quattro, and it needs a new fuel pressure regulator, but finding one has proved to be a royal PITA! Can anyone suggest an alternate which would mate up to the fuel lines on the 90? (B3 body A7 engine)
Thanks in advance!

prolly same as vw's used, remove it if necessary to get the part#, go from there, aftermarket could work also, usually can find anything on-line, it takes time though

It looks like Rock Auto (www.rockauto.com) has it, it's about $100. Look it up in their catalog under the coupe quattro - the "90 quattro" listing shows a CIS pressure regulator which is not right for the 20V engine (and costs 3x as much!).

Thanks for the heads-up Elaw. I just discovered Rockauto last night and have sense been pricing parts on the to-do list! The Audi tech ended up ordering a pressure regulator from a 200, and we'll find out today whether or not it works. (If it is a plug and play swap, I'll post the part number later)
But one interesting thing; apparently the 2.3L 20v under went changes sometime in 1990, and the fuel pressure regulator is a component that is different between the two versions. Even though we couldn't find one in stock, the regulator for my engine (7A) was only $140, compared to the earlier engine(NG??) at $550.

That's what I was referring to in my post. The 10-valve (NG) engine uses CIS which is a completely different injection system from the electronic one used on the 20-valve (7A) engine. And it uses a completely different fuel pressure regulator. Actually just about everything engine-management-related is different! :^)
So it isn't so much about when the car was built but whether it has the 10V or 20V engine.

The 200 20v 3B regulator won't work no the 7A it is 3 bar vs. the the 7a's 4.2bar the standard motor FPR is likely your only bet as the bosch one is NLA.
