1990 Audi COUPE Q MAUAL SEATS ARE TOO FIRM/WHERE TO FIND NEW ONES?
anyone know of a seat replacement idea, or modification to the Coupe Leather manual seats? Mine are too firm and dont support the lowest point of the back well , even with the lumbar which grabs too high. My other Coupe with automatic seats is better, and softer leather for some reason (1991). Could a seat fabric specialist open the seats and add some cusioning?

I picked up a used Recaro for pretty cheap. Its a manual seat, so I have to adapt it to the base of the power seat that came standard in the US CQs. And yes, the recaro is WAY more comfy despite being firm. Properly designed padding contours go a long way for comfort. Also, a soft seat may be nice for a while, but they start creating aches after long stints behind the wheel. BTDT in the 5ktq with softer quasi-sport seats and the 5kq with "barco-loungers".
One option you do have, is to rebuild your seats using the existing leather, but with new foam. Yes, the foam is available from the dealer. Do you have sport or nonsport seats, and you are RHD, yes?

Re: Hey cuatrokoop/ seats answer
Mine are manual seats and appear to be sport version. The problem is the pad at mid lumbar sticks out (this is the area where the lumbar **** ends up moving it in or out). Even with no lumbar activated, the section is bulging out and and is stiff as cardboard. I have a seat repair place in Boulder that can add foam? I am wondering if the dealer is better? Also, where can I order the recaro seat and how much $$. Will it match the black interior, or could I put my original seat back in when I sell the car in a year? My electric seat coupe seems like softer leather in 1991.

Re: Hey cuatrokoop/ seats answer
dealer would get you brand new factory foam for the seat back, thigh bolsters, etc. Don't know how much it'd be. And I do agree that the factory lumbar is not at the ideal height. I'd ask the place you know of locally how much it would cost to put new padding in the seat back (may want to just do the whole seat bottom too?).
May places sell Recaro's among other manufacturers. I picked mine up used from a local guy, just happened upon it. Also, since your car is a manual seat anyway, you are in luck as far as getting the proper plug-n-play bracket from Recaro, if thats who you go with. I'd check Ebay, Audifans (doubtful), Racesearch, AMS, Sube Sports, etc for places that sell good seats, new or used. You can get a nice new seat that will feel better for not too much money.
BTW, if you want to soften up your leather, give it a thourough cleaning, and use Castor Oil to soften it up. I'll end up doing the leather in the CQ and 5ktq with castor. I believe walmart has castor oil, check the medicine aisle?
