Does anyone know where this 2 pin coolant sensor lies? the only thing i find is the water thermoswitch, and my alldata dvd points in the same location for the sensor. I googled the location and couldnt find any useful info.
Anyone know where the 2 pin coolant temp sensor is?
t.i.a.

It's going to be in the coolant flow, so it will be in one of the hard coolant lines or in one of the coolant flanges.
On my V6, it's in the hard line on the back of the motor.
On your i5, I'd look on the driver's side for a coolant flange near the front first.

Re: 2-pin coolant sensor location
IIRC, it's in the back (firewall-side) of the head. This photo shows the sensor only. There's a much better location diagram out there, just can't find it right now.

Thanks guys. The sensor is located on the backside facing the firewall. I noticed instant results from replacing the sensor. She now runs so much better than ever. I am going to replace the thermostat fairly soon also, because I noticed the coolant hoses are rather firm even when the motor heats up, and the CEL comes on occasionally after 30-40 min drives.
As suggested already, the computer was trying to warm up the motor when it was already warm, and threw a code because it thought it was unable to warm up

Perhaps your T-stat is fine...
Glad to here your making progress, what is the CEL for now?
Are you thinking that the firm hoses indicate a lack of coolant flow?
Like the (G62?)coolant sensor, new or used, the T-stat can be tested to see if it meets specs.
