Default 1991 audi 80q 10v- runs great, the tach just died on the way home from work.

My first instinct was to check the connection at the top of the ignition coil, like my old 4000, only to find a rubber boot there.

Where does the tach pick up the signal from?

Or any help you guys can offer thanks!!

Default could be solder that finally jiggled loose in the dash cluster.

take the coil wire off, pick up the rubber boot and you'll find the wires your looking for. The post with the two wires coming off of it are the ground/tach signal labeled 1 the positive is labeled 15 IIRC.
