Default 1993 90s drop in power

About 3 days ago i felt that my engine lost the power that it used to have. The car accelerates very slowly and shifts gears on higher rpm (about 50 or so), and when i go up hill or something sometimes it drops the gear and rpm jumps up to 65, do any of you know what could be the problem?

And another thing, i haven't used my AC this summer and when i turned it on acouple of days ago it worked fine, but after about 5 hours of driving i saw white smoke/mist comming out of the central AC vents. I turned it of right a way, the next day i tried to see if the smoke would apear again, but nothing happened. What could that be?

Power problem sounds like it could be a clogged catalytic converter!!

Just a few days ago we had a discussion about the "mist" with the A/C on. It's actually a water mist....(i.e. condensation). It's common, it just means it was humid outside!! It's nothing to worry about, you can let the A/C run next time!!

HTH!!

Default That's just my best....

.."guess" see what others think before you visit a mechanic. You would probably have to visit a mechanic to verify if that's, in fact, the problem.

Factory cats cost ~$1000 each!! Because of this you'll want to go with an aftermarket cat.

Many people on the list have used Discount Converters with great success!!

Also, if your car is an automatic AND FWD you may have a RECALL on one of the cats. If both of the above conditions are met it's worth a call to the dealer to find out!!

HTH!!

Default recall!

hey-

you might want to check and see if you can get that thing replaced at the dealer- FOR FREE! not sure what the limitations are on recalls- but there was a recall on one of the cats in the '93 90s, and i had the cat replaced ON MY 93 90S for free! oh- and the ac thing- dont worry bout that at all- just condensation!

Default Re: Recall?

a recall is basically when the maufacturer screws up and fixes it for you, as far as i know. what you have to do is call the dealer with your VIN and ask about any open recalls. i did the same thing and am currently waiting for the driver side cat to arrive at the dealer-free!
