My 95 audi 90 wont start. The engine is cranking but not turning over. I get fuel to the plugs but no spark. I am also getting an error code for a bad camshaft position sensor. Could this prevent the car from starting?

Yes. Very easy test:
If you get gas on all cylinders but no spark on any cylinder when you turn the key, your camshaft position sensor is bad.
Another good indicator is:
If your scanner throws you a code saying that you have a bad camshaft position sensor, you might have a bad camshaft position sensor.
Sorry, couldn't resist. This is one of the (thankfully) easier issues to diagnose, and a lot of us have fixed it. I can't help throwing out a little sarcasm. Nothing personal, it's just how you asked the questions that inspires a bitter old f@cker like me to bust your ***** a bit. It's all in good spirit...

No offense taken. The reason why i asked the question is because I am heading down to the junk yard to pull the part off of a car and was wondering if there is a way to test the sensor before i go through the trouble of taking it off the car? If not is there a way to test the sensor after I have it off the car before i buy it from the junk yard?
