Default 20 valve vs. 12 valve.

which is better? cuz it doesnt seem like you can mod the 12v as much as the 20... and where does the 10v stand in all this? just was wondering..cuz i like my 10v ..and was wondering if the 12v was really that much faster than the 10 and i dont suppose a 12v swap will be that much more difficult than a 10v swap...rite?

Default Modding the 12V ... 10V turbo swap

There are quite a few intake mods available for the 12V engine that DO show good improvements. Check out the 12V Development forum.

Velocity stacks, bored out MAFs, TBs, silicone hose kits, etc...

Having said that... you should do a 10V turbo swap. I hear that's fairly easy to do if you have a 10V in your car already. And you can make alot more power than the 12V or 20V motors if you chip it, upgrade the turbo, etc ...

Default 20v is about the same as 12v as non turbo goes

12v is better engine because the 12v is smoother and cheaper parts, but some repairs are a pain. also 20v injectors is $250 each.

chipped 10vt got more power than both of them modded.

Default For your model year, the 10vt swap is best.

It bolts right in, no hassle to install, and tuning options for the 10v turbo are far more than any of the other two. Economically speaking, it may be the cheapest way to go.

Its definately the cheapest way to go for an engine with far more potential than the NG, AAH/AFC, or 7A...

Default has anybody ever seen an AAH/AFC in an typ89?

that would be a rather expensive swap for the performance value... I thought somewhere in my brain to drop a biturbo AFC in a 88 90 (conceptually), then I quickly reminded myself of the cost of such an operation and scratched the idea. Cuatrokoop, what do you think?>

If set on using a V6, I'd rather put in the 30v AHA and possibly put a PES supercharger on it. Or, wait for the new AVK code 3.0L's to come available in junk yards. 220hp with no waiting. It'll be interesting to see what the aftermarket comes up with for that thing (I can't imagine PES to be too far off from offering a SC kit for it, not all that different from the 2.8 AHA).
