I didn't do it, I bought the rims that way..
I didn't notice any adverse affects but my understanding is the wear pattern will be funny and you will get less miles out of the tires..

That I can vouch for...the Kumos that Discount put on the Enkei wheels they sold the previous owner.
...of my S6 never wore right and were replaced under warranty 1 or 2 times...needless to say I have 3 sets of OE wheels for the S6 now...proper width wheels, proper width tires and no problems!
