I haven't been able to get it to work at all in my '90 20v 90q since puting a known good bulb in there. Now that I'm having running issues (should hopefully be the fuel pump) I am determined to get it working. I'm pretty sure I found a fix for this problem last night with the help of another online recourse. Good news is it should be an easy fix for everyone. I'm just curious how many people are affected by this? Give me your model year and body style. This is only for 20v people so 10v and 12v need not reply.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/418527.phtml">Follow-up to this.</a></li></ul>

IMO is not worth it. Just pull the codes if car's not running right and be done.

It's quite easy. You find out soon. And yeah, it's definately worth it. How am I supposed to know if I have a code/CEL if the d@mn bulb never lites up? Am I supposed to "blink" the codes everytime I drive the car?

You drive the car and not worry about it. If something is wrong with the car you will know. For example, sputtering or occasional loss of power. When something like that happens you pull the codes, which is super easy if you have made the tool.
What does light give you? It just tells you that something is wrong. you still need to pull the codes to find out what. Get my point?
My '03 A4 has a light on. I checked it once, it was something stupid, emissions related. I keep driving as the car runs just fine. I would be perfectly fine without that light at first place.

I drive long distances with this car and want to know when something isn't operating right, RIGHT AWAY! For instance, an 02. They can go bad and give you bad mileage until something gets real bad. Same goes for an RPM sensor. I want to know right away. So I don't turn the key and find a no start issue. Especially if it's as easy as it is to add.
Being a pilot, I rely on warning indicators to give me advance warning of problems. If you want to be stubborn and say something about what you don't know, go ahead. This doesn't even relate to you as your CQ is running on 034. Wiring up one wire to get a CEL light is worth it to me and others I'm sure.

worked like a charm. Doesn't lite up when a code is thrown, but will lite up when you initiate the code procedure and will blink the codes per Bentley. It will also allow you to do the output tests.
My Cq's vin is #8828 ('90)

regardless of whether my Coupe runs on standalone or not. Remmeber I've had it in stock form for longer than that.
Oh, and just an FYI, if your RPM sensor goes your car will not start, period. No warning, no nothing. But you rely on that light, ok? Sensors that will give you warning will not leave you stranded. Those that do NOT give warning will leave you stranded so light or not you'll be screwed. O2 or knock sensor for example. In either way you will have to pul the codes.
This is just a 18yr old car, not a plane dude.

...now! I read the 20v.org w/u about it so I added the bulb and no go. I agree that it's not necessary, but I (like 20VT90q) would like to be able to easily pull codes... I guess I'm less concerned about the early warning, but it would be nice to not find out the hard way that my O2 isn't working properly.
