Default 85 Audi 4000 Quattro Vs. 94 Audi 90 Quattro.....

I am waiting for the snow to come to see which car handles the white stuff better. Both cars have studless snows. I know from last winter that the 4000 was awesome in the snow.

Any thoughts from people that have had the pleasure of owning both?????

I'd rather drive the 5kq in the snow than the CQ, personal preference, and those darn handy locking diffs...

It unlocks at 15mph or so. Between that, and the Gleason-Torsen center diff, I don't like how it can act sometimes (I'll leave it at that, check out AudiFans Torsen debate stuff).

The 5kq is a friggin tank, I drove it through a blizzard, pushing its way through drifts that were over its hood at times (this was on I65 in Indiana). I chose the 5kq for that trip because I knew it would get me back safe and sound. Its not that the CQ wouldn't have, its just that the 5kq is so predictable and very easy to control, it was a no brainer for me given the situation...

My 4000, which I just sold, was the most amzing snow car I have ever owned. I would pass 4 wheel drive vehicles up montain passes all day long and feel total control. Too bad I never got the diff locks to work. Would have been better but I really never needed it.

Hopefully the 90 CS will live up to it;s 4 rings!

Under most circumstances (nothing extreme) the Gen2 quattro will not let you down. Its when you start pushing things that it gets, ahem, fun. Usually in a good way, sometimes not...
