Default 90 Quattro noisy front wheel whatt

Hello
my name is david
im new on this forum and it`s my first post
nice to meet yaa audi fans
Im from quebec : )
so there is a lot of snow over here i need a 4WD absolutely
im working the evening as a pizza delivery boy
Im a student in welding at the school right now

i bought a new cars for the winter an audi 90 quattro a 1994
with a v6 2.8 manual in good shape
It`s a beautiful green car i love it but i actually have a problem that i can`t fix : (

im doing my mechanic by my own , and im doing it the right way
so here my problem :
it`s a noisy wheel only when im putting load on the passenger wheel (only noise no move in the sterring ONLY big noise changing with the speed)
when i put load on the driver whell it disseapear
if im riding in front diretly it didn`t make a sound only when i put little load on the passenger wheel it start making sound, if im going on the neutral and turning the wheel ,here agains it`s making noise on the passenger wheel only, .....

, it sound like a bearring but a actually change it 2 days ago , i was thinking that was the disc grinding on the hub or spindel , it was rusted so i change it this morning , and the noisy sound is still there : (

i took the hub in a hand and to see if there a play in the universal joint and there no play in it, up and down or front to back .....

my galiper is okay it`s moving and it not stick it move goodly
i really dont know what it this noise
it`s changing with the speed of the cars ,starting from 20 and i dont go up to 60 with the cars : ( and always when i put load on the passenger wheel
the sterring isnt`s shaking or giving hit or feeling no hit

my other possibility will be the cardans (universal joint) itself or can it be a bearring in the transmission there the universal joint is bolted .... there`s no oil leaking from the universal joint actually (tranny side)

..... really i don`t know what is this
please help me the car is in good shape i just want to fix this problem
thank you
and sorry for my english im a 22 years old boy but i think it`s good enough that you understand

any post will be really appreaciated
Dave

Sounds like a bad wheel bearing! The "S" test is usually the best way to see if you have a bad bearing Cut the wheel one way then to the other and see if the noise disappears when load its put on the specific side.

I'm not too familiar with the older Audi's but I'd imagine you would need to press the bearing in and out of the hub.

You'll be good as new after that!

Yeah the noise disseapear when i put load on the specific side ...
in my case when i put load on the right side ( turn left) it`s doing a hard grinding sound but, i come to do the bearing two days ago .......

and when i buy the cars the guy who sell me the cars had do the bearing two week before i was sure he broke the bearing when he done it ..... so i re do it two days ago .....

and when i put load on the left side ( turn right) the noise disseapear and there`s no sound put i just put a little load on the right side and the sound is backkkkkkk
i came to see a volks specialist and he told me that sound can be my tire i just came to change side the tire left to right and right to left and it didn`t change anything .......

now im thinking it`s my universal joint .......
why it `can`t be this ...... i change everything that rotating on the right side only the cv that i havent do .....

I'm still going to go with wheel bearing. Are you positive its coming from the front?

Sometimes wheel bearings can be hard to pin point. Another way to test is to put the car on a lift (jack stands if no access to a lift) and check all 4 wheels for play ( pushing side to side ) if any of the wheels have excessive play that's the wheel that has a bad bearing.

Good luck!

Default MAybeee

Ho my good : )
i think i found my problem ....
when i change back my tire , i found a tie-rod end verry loose

i think when i put load on the left side the right side is clunking,
and when i put load on the right side ( tie rod shot)
the noise is dissapearing because the load is locking the tie-rod ......

i command my tie-rod

i will install it tomorow and i will give you more information .......
hope it`s thissss and not a differential bearing

Off topic but in the area pull the two pins on your front caliper carriers, they are notorious for seizing up especially in salty areas. BTDT many times. The boots often crack from age, if the pins cannot move freely your pad will become stuck to the rotor.
I pull the pins and clean/lube yearly after I had to replace the entire carrier due to it being frozen solid.

Default Brake seizee

Hello
That what i was expecting .... i was shure the sound was coming from the rusty disc because the way it`s mounted .... i was thinking it was in contact with the hub or spindel thinking my galiper was seize ...
but i change my disc for a brand new and pass a sand paper on the pads and when i get in the double piston , they get in freely and were moving freely , and the pins to i clean them and put synthetic grease on themmm .

It`s now Off topics man it`s was possible .....

Im supossed to receive my tie-rod today i will repost when it will be done

a big thanks you for those reply your really good with me Audiworld

Have a nice day
