Default 91 80q rough running

I have a 91 80 quattro with the ng engine. I recently bought it and it didnt run when i bought it due to a warped head. I installed a junkyard engine that i resealed and re-lapped the valves in. after intall i properly tuned the cis and ignition timing to factory specs but the car still runs very rough when it is cold, it bogs down and has no power until it has warmed up a little. it was worse until i replaced the platinum plugs i originally installed with the factory bosh super dutys.

Default Re: start with this...

would a collapsing breather hose possibly be to blame? I have the updated metal one on order but for now the original rubber one is installed and it looks like it is collapsing...no leaks though

Default my hose was collapsed when I bought my car...

replaced it with a new one, but didn't notice much difference, so I wouldn't think that would be the culprit. However, if your hose is cracked, then that's a whole different story.

Default are we talking about the ginormous vacuum line that goes to the idle stabilization valve?

(ISV)? I installed a silicone hose and reinforced it with spring on the inside so it wouldn't colapse...just a thought.

Default

come to think of it, I've heard of people doing that too. Seems to work well.
