Default 97 cab - help with fluid leak

about a week ago i began leaking a brownish fluid that was dropping just inside the drivers front wheel. it lasted about a week and was a fiarly significant amt of fluid. first i thought oil but drop location was odd and level was fine. then i figured pentosin since resevoir is almost right above leak. that level was also fine. brake fluid, fine.

my suspension has become a bit more noisy however. is there anything that could have leaked like a gas shock/strut or something? or rack fluid, or any other ideas??? the only fluid i have not checked yet is trans. i should check but i thought it would be more red.

Default Check the strut for any residue that may indicate a leak. That will tell you if the strut insert...

is/was leaking.
