Default Nearly any wreck will cause damage, reguardless of bumper used....
Its a chance we all take, each and every day, out on the road. Anyone from any where, at any time could run into your car, and cause minor to severe damage. Your insurance says it will happen to you every 3 years, on average. ;O)

I have a strong feeling that a small Peugeot would not be able to run after damage like that

It did. 405 was leaking fluid when it took off.
