Default its not. but stop being cheap and just change your oil numb nuts!
haha.. Just kidding.. but you should change your oil just like I said below.. every 3000miles or 3 months. You can top off your oil and I honestly am naive to any ill effects...

the results are MUCH worse if you don't add oil!
