Default aftermarket radio install possible in coupe?

without replacing anything but the head unit? I just want to put a panasonic cd player in without replacing anything else. Is that possible or is it a pain in the *** like every other Audi I have owned? If so does the red plug get used at all? I bought an aftermarket wiring kit but it doesnt include the red plug. Thanks in advance

Default Rear speakers have built-in amplifires. Gotta bypass those to run direct

or use the pre-amp outputs, or a line-level converter.

Default Well, PITA is a matter of perspective.

In my '90 80q, I pulled all the Bose speakers, but used the existing wires as speaker wires. It was a low-power set-up, so the small-gauge wires were not an issue.

In my UrS6, I tried using the line-outs on a Becker Traffic Pro, but that didn't work without popping on shut-off. I tried ground loop isolators, and running ground directly to battery negative. Both failed.

The ONLY way it worked was to do line-level converters using the HU's speaker output converted to line level.

Default it can be done. I did it in 1994, and needless to say, can't remember much about

the wiring. Like an idiot I cut the factory plugs instead of wiring spade connctors to put into them from the aftermarket harness. I reinstalled the factory head unit some years later, and found myself wiring female spade connectors (tiny ones) to the factory wiring and individually plugging them into the back of the headunit. An illustration of how "not" to do it for sure.

Default "Best Kits" makes a VW adapter that happens to fit the back of a Gamma CC

Now, I don't know if this kit will work on the back of whatever stock stuff you have going (because I don't know the stock thingy in a B3, sorry), but the adapter allows you to keep the factory plugs and harnesses. It worked great on my UrS.

Default Yup. Have a Pana 235 in my coupe with a Passat CD Changer. Crutchfield sells adapter. You have

to run a power lead from the fuse box or other area.

Default yes very possible. STF for wire diagrams. thats all you really need, in my 90 i had to "by-pass" the

built "on" amps that are attached to the speakers, but it works just fine.
