Default All i really wanted to say was....

a wider rim on the same tire is going to give you better handling. I quoted a excerpt from a track website and it did show how wider rims did give the driver more feel of the road and better handling. Thats what i wanted to say basically, buecase people over here thought that becauise i wanst running as "wide" of a tire I would hjave worse handling. The tires issue got too far, and I am happy with what I have.

Just wanted to make a note that a wider rim will make a greater difference in handling.

Thats it.

Anyone have anything to add?

Default But what that article failed to mention was that

the tire that was used was probably too big to be running on an 8.5" wheel, or whatever it was, which is why it helped handling so much!

Default When you say to big what do you mean?

If a tire is to wide like say you should be using a 215 tire on a 7x17 rim and you push for a 235 with wider then usual tread. That would make the tire's sidewalls weaker and in return make the handling much worse then the 215 tire. Ding.. ding.. that makes sense to me.

I do not understand what you are saying about the wider tire being better handling.

What I am saying in so many words is, a little wider good, too wide bad.

Anyway not starting an argument just trying to clear things up? Confusion is what messes things up in the first place.

Default Think opposite of what your saying...

a 215 tire on a 8.5" wheel, or a 215 tire on 7 or 7.5" wheel. It will have better handling on the smaller wheel, due to the tire not being stretched.

What White90 is saying is that a wider wheel will offer better handling. He seems to be ignoring the fact that there is a limit to this, which he has hit. His tires are reccomended for wheels 7-8" wide, but he has them on an 8.5" wheel, which will adversley affect handling.

Default Agreed..

Or so I would think.. Wonder why the germans are stretching tires? I would think a 215 tire on an 8.5 sounds way off. Infact I think it would cause the tire to slip faster.
