Hello Again,
My 1990 90Q alternator went out the other day. 20v.org says I can rebuild it with Bosch P/N 30091 ($20). Is it really that easy? Where could I obtain this part number? I called the local Audi dealership and they could not give me an answer. I was going to put a used one in but for $20 why not. Thanks again everyone.
Dustin

this part does not rebuild the entire alternator, it just replaces what its' name implies. This may be all your alternator requires, or not. As your dealer is not very helpful (mine was for my 12v), try an alternator repair shop or your FLAPS.
I've never replaced the brushes on a 20v alternator, I didn't realize it required soldering (20v.org).
A more complete rebuild might include replacement of the bearings and "turning" of the area where the brushes run. Perhaps the alternator shop can tell you what you do and do not need.
