Well I just picked up the car (1990 90 20v sedan)
with 118,000 miles for $700. The guy told me that there was a coolant leak and I guess I found where it came from. The only other problem is that the brake pedal is very stiff. The brake performance is not too bad, but is definately hurting. Any ideas of what the problem could be.

the brake pedal is heavier than others, but not bad, from the factory. however....
is the hydraulic pump leaking? or does the BRAKE light come on?
the hyd. pump has two sides. steering and brakes. i blew the snot outta the brake side when i was rear ended in the CQ. i'd hate to see what the line pressure was...lost my power assist after that, and my engine bay was covered in Pentosin mineral fluid. steering was fine.
if your BRAKE light comes on, most likely the pressure accumulator (or a line in/out from it).
the sedan has single piston calipers front and rear. common upgrade is to get the 20v sport rotors with CQ calipers, which are a dual piston on a larger rotor.
btw, for $700, if the leak and the breaks are the only problem, you got a HELLUVA deal...i paid over $7k for my coupe 5 years ago, and most 20v cars go for $4-9k...
