any more suggestions for a rounded o2 sensor nut? still stuck in there.

Default any more suggestions for a rounded o2 sensor nut? still stuck in there.

also, i dont get air thru the defrost/defogger vents on top of dash. floor and face vents work fine. what should i look at first, acuator?

suggestion? an oxy-fuel torch to heat it VERY hot and a set of vice-grips

You might have to remove the cat from the exhaust system where you can get it to a vise. Hold the sensor in the vise and turn the cat around it. If it is welded in, cut it out with a hacksaw or a tourch. You can always get a muffler shop to put it back in once you get the old O2 sensor out of it.

You mentioned that you left it with a mechanic? If you don't have a torch drive the hell out of the car until it gets as hot as it is going to.

Then break out some gloves and attack it again.

Spraying some liquid wrench at it wouldn't hurt.

2nd, -heat the cat around the O2 sensor, use vice-grips. Pull the cat if necessary

Default Google "Irwin Deep Well Bolt-Grip Fastener Removers"

I'm sure they make them large enough to fit the O2 sensor. These things have saved me many times. You might have to destroy the main body of the old sensor for the remover to fit, but who cares.

Default Re: worked with indy mechanic and got it out

ultimately he ended up removing pass side wheel and then accessing via wheel well with pipe wrench while i held torch over top. it finally popped. he said it was the most sticky he'd ever seen. thanks guys!
